.22r block with 20r head I recently purchase the 22r/20r engine you spoke of.It was built with the double roller timing chain,rv cam,22r valves machined and installed in the
.79 toy, 20R/22R hybrid with oversized valves, thorley header, offy intake and 32/36 weber longbeds rock!
.Theres even a kit for the 22R/20R online that uses that setup, dont remember the link though, it was something like $400, that system would support a turbo easier than the
.The 20R has a round topped carb and a 22r has a square topped. Also the starters are different (smaller) but thats kinda hard to tell. Also the 80 didnt have a 5 speed.
.The 20r head is a open chamber head like the pre 85 22rs so swaping the head onto a 85and up 22r short block does not boots compresion, unless you have the head shaved
.Stock 20r valves and components, with a decent top end cam (this is more of a DD) Going to use arp head studs, so head gasket issues shouldnt be much of a problem if I do
